About Me
Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I am a Master's level Social Worker registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I have been working in the field for the past 19 years, and have specialized in Addictions and Mental Health treatment with both teenagers and adults. Currently, I am offering both in-person as well as virtual (phone or zoom) appointments to clients for individual, couple, family counselling as well as parent coaching/support. At times I will be running groups and will update the website accordingly. I utilize a variety of different therapeutic modalities when working with clients, and work collaboratively to create individualized treatment plans specific to each client/family. At the heart of my work is a deep seeded belief in holistic wellness and consider it a privilege to walk with my clients along their journey. I believe that no one is immune to struggle and thus practice from a trauma informed lens with a focus on a mind, body and spirit approach to healing; incorporating alternative practices as well as evidenced based therapy depending on the clients need.
Originally from the Yukon, I have deep respect and love for the outdoors and I am fortunate to spend much of my free time exploring the mountains with my two dogs and family. I have recently written and published a book, Soaring With Burnt Wings, which is part memoir, part inspiration for others who find themselves on a grieving and healing journey. I love to travel and sink my toes into the sand.
Often by the time someone is reaching out for support they may feel desperate, or perhaps have seen other therapists with little progress. In order for there to be sustainable change in therapy it is important for you to feel seen, respected and heard. I know that trust is earned and for some takes time to build. I believe in showing up as my authentic self and bringing the lessons I have learned throughout my life, not simply as a social worker, to the session. I believe in dismantling the power dynamic between therapist and client, and that this allows for far more growth and holistic healing. The relationship between us is truly the starting ground for sustainable change outside the therapy room. For this reason, I offer free 15 minute consultations so that you can speak with me on the phone and determine if you feel that this would be a good fit at this time in your life.
